brokelurving

it's funny how freelurving
was really for my "free" lurving times only.
and when i moved across the country,
before i even ended up with a boyfriend,
this whole venture fell off

well, it's back,
now that the boyfriend broke me
i may end up posting
a lot of songs NOT to listen to
when you're broken up with
and completely heartbroken

but, that's probably because they are
songs that you would listen to
when in love...

it's a balancing act

i haven't slept in days,
seven days out and thoroughly
broken hearted and a ball of tears,
so this is all for now

you get a song too, don't worry
and slowly, but surely, there will be more

a day in the life...

another bettye lavette moment.

while freelurving from b'more, i was pleased to discover
bettye lavette was still within reach. she popped out at me,
after esg, in the r&b and funk stack of vinyl at soundgarden,
while my freelurving friend was on a date at the restaurant mezze
right next door. it's bizarre how she seems to follow me around.

be like freelurving and get your own copy
of freelurving's leading lady on vinyl.
you won't regret it.

another bettye lavette moment...

so, you know those bettye lavette moments
that i have mentioned more than once?
well, this one just hit me yesterday while
listening to her on youtube. it's so
strange how since day one on this blog business
she has somehow crept up on a regular basis.

...
here me now. ooo girl!
ohhh now now. ooo now.

when you give more than you get

you're in danger
you might find out you're lovin' a total stranger...

danger! heartbreak's dead ahead...

...

not that i've fallen in love
with a total stranger...
not that i know of at least.
but i have definitely been in that
give more than you get situation.
it always ends with my crush reminding
me why they're called
a crush.

have a friend in need of a little
nudge, a gentle reminder, that they
should watch out, that the person they
are lurving now isn't worth lurving
tomorrow? throw this on a mix cd
and nonchalantly play it while you're
in the car with them. music is a powerful
thing, bettye lavette may be what you
need
to get your point across.

is in legitimate danger, like not just
heartbreak... click here for more info]]

Kevin Drew: "Love vs. Porn"

Well, I woke up and my mouth was a little dry
So I grabbed the moisturizer and tried not to cry

Spoke to my hand and then started to dream

You came into my bed and I tied you up

We went underneath and I taught you the cup
While people were watching how you and me breathed

And I got lost in the warm

And I got lost in the hole
And I got lost in the arms

The softness I'd stolen was never round to be loved

So, I got addicted to watching the screen

That kids today are kept pictures sex clean

And all the time the body slowly broke apart

No one knows any more how to cum inside

It's all about the dirt we hide in our pride

And tissues become a slow and wasted heart

We'll get lost in the warm

We'll get lost in the hole

We'll get lost in our arms

The softness we stole was never about the love

Ladies on the screen can never replicate

All the fatty lines where the skin ought to take

We must fool our eyes before we even kiss

The joy, the joy used to be in all the books

Kids today think that hookers are the hook

And that hearts beat better in a bed when they're missed

And they'll get lost in the warm

And they'll get lost in the hole

And they'll get lost in the arms

The softness they stole will never ever be able to love

...

awkwardly appealing.
the whole i, we'll, they'll...

why is that he assumes this
progression?
it already happened?

either way, the best thing about being
in love, what i hope for, and what i think
a lot of people hope for, is being loved.
porn can't love you back.

but, wait,
"there's this rushing river that, unless
given an outlet, will build up and eventually
erupt..." that rushing river being the
masculinity of the men in the middle ages
and the outlet, despite the laws against
adultery, was obviously a prostitute.
fast forward hundreds of years,
they still have prostitutes,
plus they have porn.

another bettye levette moment...
i really did hear someone on the history
channel say that as i was writing this.
i'm watching "sex in the bible",
which is more like sexually charged hypocrites
finding any way possible to get laid.

i digress.

Noah and the Whale: "Love of an Orchestra (Nightwaves remix)"

FYI: Noah and the Whale video on top
Nightwaves pic on bottom

...

If you gotta run, run from hope

I know I'll never be lonely
I've got songs in my blood
I'm carrying all the love of an orchestra
gimme the love of an orchestra (x3)

So now in my deepest sorrow
there's no need for despair
I'm carrying all the love of an orchestra
gimme the love of an orchestra (x3)

(Choir)
If you gotta run, run from hope

...

reminds me of a crush i
mentioned earlier... while i'm not
sure he carries the love of an orchestra,
i do know he's not lonely when
he's got music and he told me
it was all he had time for.
i tell my
friends not to expect to change anyone ever,
so i guess i should follow my own advice
and not chase boys who already told me
they aren't worth chasing.
couldn't help it though, i was/am smitten.

beyond personal rantings,
i am smitten with this song,
especially the video.
for the song writers and
music lovers, here's a love song
for you and for music.

(like the unplanned bettye lavette number in
"on free lurving...", shuffle decided it was
your song's turn to play over all 6,822 choices
in my library. and it sounds like a love song?)

on free lurving...

i'm a big fan of repeat... i buy movies i've already seen, i eat the same thing for weeks and weeks, i replace kicked sneakers with the same exact make and model, and i love to play songs over and over again, especially in the car. so, almost nothing here will be new, not to me at least, but it will be lovable, for better or for worse.

maybe you'll find the next track for that mix cd you're making for your crush and maybe you'll find you're not the only one feeling the way you feel.

as i'm writing this, bettye levette's "we got to slip around" is playing, and she said exactly that, that you're not the only one to feel this way... while it's about cheating on your man/woman, still, it's the truth.

hopefully you'll find that here. to music.

...

the bettye lavette number was totally unplanned,
and i don't have a copy of it for you to download,
but here is a link for more on her
and to sample the song
