Inner Circle: "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (Stylistics cover)

no need for lyrics with videos like
this one... photo above of stylistics
and video streaming inner circle's version
of this precious track

...

My love, I'll never find the words, my love

To tell you how I feel, my love
mere words could not explain

You make me feel brand new
I sing this song for you
You make me feel brand new
For God blessed me with you
You make me feel brand new
I sing this song for you...

...

so this wasn't exactly requested,
but it seems like it should be up here.

i've never even met you, which is the
best part of our e-rants. and now, we've both
got blogs to email about. imagine that.
do we ever leave our computers? jeez louise.

i once paid a service $10 to connect me
with a pen pal in saudi arabia. we wrote
each other letters for almost four years.
for obvious reasons the letters dwindled,
i think i was around 12 years old at the time.

[boy not requesting:]

Yes the love song blog. So good.
I did a mix CD last year called Irie Radio,
all lovers rock and tender roots reggae.
I bought this record after preparations were underway,
but this Inner Circle cover of the Stylistics
"You Make Me Feel Brand New," is ridiculous.
I'm enclosing it for research purposes.

[my response to this song:]

definitely ridiculous, and worthy
of any cheesy (+) side freelurving mix cd.

and, it's the perfect love song to recover,
no names and just what a girl wants to hear.
caution though, unless she's totally dense
like me in the story i told about the boy
next door, she'll probably think you like her
at least a little, lot, a bit.

Crosby, Stills & Nash: "Helplessly Hoping"

two in one special today!
and it's a request... oo la la.

...

helplessly hoping her harlequin hovers nearby
awaiting a word
gasping at glimpses of gentle true spirit
he runs wishing he could fly
only to trip at the sound of good-bye

Wordlessly watching he waits by the window
and wondersat the empty place inside

heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams he worries
did he hear a good-bye or even

hello

they are one person
they are too alone
they are three together
they are for each other

stand by the stairway you'll see something
certain to tell you
confusion has its cost

love isn't lying it's loose in a lady who lingers
saying she is lost

and choking on hello

they are one person
they are too alone
they are three together
they are for each other

...

"this was the first song i ever had
with a boyfriend and i (also a fan of repeat)
would listen to it on repeat, alone in
my dorm room with the lights off and
the volume on max.

this was the way i always felt about us.
you were me and i was you... not in
time or in space, but in our minds.

ultimately we just wanted to
hold it together, but we couldn't.
i was that lady, lingering,
making you trip over my goodbyes,
but lost myself.

i wish it hadn't gone so sour.
i wish i could still hear your mind in mine,
as friends, still here for each other.

from this relationship what i miss most
is the friendship, but i believe it
lives on in its own space."

my paraphrasation of you know
who you are about the he who
may, or may not, know who he is:

freelurving is a learning experience,
not like learning calculus, but more like
learning first hand how to survive
every single accident covered in the
worst case scenario survival handbook guides...

Rose Melberg: "Truly"

joy division, once again
you're right. freelurving hurts.

...

i cried too many times today

what would you say
if you knew
how truly i love you

come here better to hear me sing
forget everything
how i made you cry

ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo-ooo
ooooo-ooo-ooo-ooooo

i cried too many times today
...

sorry for another not so uplifting
tune,
but, the only way to get over
it is to get through it...

maybe you can use this one on
the hello, i love you mix,

or the come home i miss you mix
for your special someone that might not
realize how special
they really are
and needs
some reminding.

i was having lunch the other day and my
friend and i were talking
about that
terrible cry yourself
to sleep lurving
feeling that
we don't think our former
flames
ever realized they induced,
much less shared.

did you guys?
or are we right?

José González: "Love Will Tear Us Apart" (Joy Division cover)

two in one special is back!
a little valentine's day present
from freelurving to you.

...

When routine bites hard
And ambitions are low.

And resentment rides high

But emotions won't grow.
And we're changing our ways

Taking different roads.

Then love, love will tear us apart again.

Love, love will tear us apart again.

Why is the bedroom so cold

Turned away on your side?

Is my timing that flawed

Every feeling run so dry?

Yet there's still this appeal
that
we've kept through our lives.

And love, love will tear us apart again.

Love, love will tear us apart again.

Do you cry out in your sleep,

All my failings expose?

Gets a taste in my mouth

As desperation takes hold.

Why is it something so good

Just can't function no more?

And Love, love will tear us apart again.

Love, love will tear us apart again.
Love, love will tear us apart again...

...

something very catchy about
other side of the bed references.
especially when it's cold.
everyone is always talking about it.
i know i've spent nights crying
about it, days complaining
about it...

i cried so many times for you that sometimes
my brother
and my dad would ask me why
we were even together. for a long time,
a four and a half year time,
and then some,
it was because
i really just couldn't help
how much i loved you. no matter what
you did, mostly what you didn't do,
i couldn't
stop. many of my tears
fell on the nights
i found myself alone,
wondering why you weren't
there next to me.
i don't cry about you anymore
though,
and i think we are both happy
where we are now.

i'd say this is an ideal, repeatable
break(ing)up song. one you can wallow
in, one you can get your point across with,
one you can rock out to
once you've come to
terms with
it all. whatever works for you.

a note on SMITTEN

yes... smitten is an odd word. a whole
lot of love and pain
wrapped up in
six little letters.
i love that
smitten,
which originates from the
word smite, is first defined as being struck
by a hard blow,
then as grievously or
disastrously
stricken or afflicted,
and lastly,
this is the best part,
very much in love.
therefore? therefore,
being very much in love...
is like
being hit really hard and
disastrously
afflicted.
my aunt did always try to
teach me,
that nothing in life was fair,
and to marry for money.

...

SMITE (from dictionary.reference.com)

1. to strike or hit hard, with or as with the hand,
a stick, or other weapon: She smote him on the
back with her umbrella.

2. to deliver or deal (a blow, hit, etc.)
by striking hard.

3. to strike down, injure, or slay:
His sword had smitten thousands.

4. to afflict or attack with deadly or
disastrous effect: smitten by polio.

5. to affect mentally or morally with a
sudden pang: His conscience smote him.

6. to affect suddenly and strongly with a
specified feeling:They were smitten with terror.

7. to impress favorably; charm; enamor:
He was smitten by her charms.
